Francesca Contreras is a 200 HR-Kripalu certified yoga instructor who is passionate about sharing the practice and philosophy of yoga with people from all walks of life as a tool for healing, self-discovery and liberation. She grew up in Miami, Florida and is passionate about her social justice work in the anti-violence field. She teaches yoga to domestic violence survivors and immigrants and immigrant youth in Roxbury where she lives. Her classes are focused on cultivating breath and body awareness, mindfulness in movement, and non-judgmental awareness – tools that she hopes students can use to ride the emotional, physical and spiritual waves of the real world outside as well. Her classes are accessible to all levels and she loves connecting with students. Say hi, introduce yourself, tell her why you love yoga! She studied Africana Studies & Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Brown University 2011 and went through the Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Teacher Training put on by FireFly International in Boston, MA in January 2015.
